An Epoch Begins... Almost

Yesterday was a long day of travel and a little stress. I went from Millington, Illinois to Conway, Arkansas via a minivan, a plane, a car, and then my SUV. I flew out of Midway a tad late at about 3:45 yesterday afternoon, and I landed in Little Rock a smidge after 5. The Jenny's parents graciously picked me up at the airport and took me to their house where my vehicle was waiting, loaded down, to head up to Conway for move-in.

I drove to Conway and arrived to find that the housing people for my building didn't know who I was or anything I was talking about. They decided to put me in a temporary suite and figure things out. So I moved my hiking backpack of this past week's clothes plus my comforter, a throw pillow, and a towel borrowed from the trunk of Jenny's car into this suite. It is the biggest suite I've ever seen in college campus housing. It's so big because it's a corner unit plus being handicapped accessible, so that means that the doorways and halls and everything are larger. The living room and kitchenette have been merged into one huge living space with a cabinet/counter and ref tucked into one corner. It's nice.

All that said, today I called Glenda in Honors and told her what had happened. She said she'd make some calls. She hasn't gotten back to me, but I called Housing just now, and they say that Glenda was right in the first place. I'm inclined to think that since a business day has passed, maybe things have now worked themselves out paperwork-wise. I hope so, because I start classes tomorrow and I still haven't move in. I mean, come on!

So that's that. I had a very easy flight, by the way, and met a very nice woman with whom I conversed the entire way. She was very affirming, and what a breath of fresh air it is to meet someone who is on a similar journey, but down the road a bit further than I.

I'm sure things will be sorted out soon enough.
