Here is one thing I never got a good picture of in Beijing:  horse drawn fruit carts in the middle of the city.  This is my friend Alli's picture, taken in Lido, which is a pretty fancy area of town.  They have Peter's Tex-Mex, a Starbucks, and a Jenny Lou's (import grocery store).
If this doesn't brighten your day, I don't know what will.

Oh, also, today I was walking from one class to the next, and as I passed a Chinese kid on the sidewalk, he very politely spit into the bushes.  It made me happier than I've ever been at expectoration.  I realized that he has become Americanized inasmuch as he won't just hocker up on the sidewalk itself.  And he's still Chinese enough to just do it.  I called and left David a message about it, because it made my morning.
